      What are the characteristics of 3M 920XL?

3M 920 XL is a double-sided transfer adhesive tape manufactured by 3M.

The two main features of this transfer adhesive are:

• The presence of an overhanging liner, allowing the end user to easily remove it

• Availability in long lengths of 914 meters

The liner overhangs by 1.6 mm on each side of the adhesive tape. This liner is made of white paper with a red printed message: “Remove to expose adhesive.”

The acrylic adhesive is pressure-sensitive, moderately firm, and provides excellent initial adhesion on various substrates (paper, coated paper, plastics, foams, etc.), with strong shear resistance. It also offers excellent UV resistance.

Another key feature of the 3M 920XL is its availability in long lengths (914 meters), enabling manufacturers to use the adhesive with fewer roll changes, improving both time efficiency and productivity.

      What are its applications?

The 3M 920 XL is primarily used for the manufacturing of paper envelopes (classic, for radiology, etc.) as well as other stationery items such as medical files, radiology folders, and pockets, which are then folded and manually sealed.

Depending on the application, it may be easier to use other transfer adhesive products like 3M 924, 3M 976, ADEZIF TF024, or ADEZIF TF069 with the ATG 700 manual applicator, which automatically removes the protective liner when applying the adhesive.
