3M 361 Single sided glass cloth tape– plasma treatment

Description

3M 361 tape is a single sided glass cloth “technical” tape from the scotch tape range of the manufacturer 3M. Its high temperature resistance (up to 232°C continuously) and its significant performance in traction make it an essential product, particularly on metal parts. 

Because of its high temperature resistance, its silicone adhesive, combined with its strong adhesion to the surface and the durability of the glass cloth backing material, make 3M 361 tape an ideal solution for masking some surfaces during thermal spraying. This tape can also be used for masking surfaces during powder coating operations.

It effectively resists abrasion and breakage and is conformable with the possibility of wrapping. Thus in race cars, 3M 361 tape is often covered by 3M 363 aluminised glass cloth tape which can withstand higher temperatures and reflect heat.

Here are some applications for the tape :

• wrapping parts during plasma treatment
• permanent jointing of pipes at high temperatures
• important role in welding : the adhesive holds the metal filler molten and allows you to weld in one single pass, sealing hard-to-reach places.
