What are the characteristics of 3M 9086 ?
3M 9086 tape is a double-sided adhesive tape made by the manufacturer 3M with an non woven backing material. Its special feature is that it has the same acrylic adhesive formulation as two other 3M SCOTCH products: 3M 9088 (polyester backing material) and 3M 9087 (PVC backing material).
Here are the advantages of this highly effective adhesive :
- immediate initial bonding
- excellent resistance to plasticizer migrations : can therefore be used on PVC.
- strong and durable fixing
- good resistance to environmental conditions (UV in particular).
- good ageing
The non woven backing material also has the advantage of being hand tearable and being conformable. The white liner, with 3M written in black, makes it quickly identifiable.
It is used for example for :
- fixing small cardboard boxes
- model assembly
- holding textiles when sewing leather
- the interior trim of automobiles,
- laminating foam…
