What are the characteristics of 3M 501 E ?  

3M 501E tape is a single sided tape with a backing material in smooth crepe paper saturated with latex from the scotch tape range of the manufacturer 3M.

This tape is essentially used in the automotive industry for paint masking operations under conditions where the temperature can go up to 160°C (For applications that do not require such temperature resistance, it is recommended that you use a suitable reference, such as ADEZIF PA568 for example.

This product is therefore recommended when the painted surface on which it is applied requires several firing cycles or infrared drying or heat lamps. The paints that are compatible with this tape are water-based paints or solvents that will not seep under the paper backing material.

It is also ideal for all two-tone (or multi-coat) paint because it resists humid abrasion that can occur before the painting of the second coat.

Its rubber adhesive offers excellent immediate bonding, and the removal of the tape leaves no residue and requires no cleaning for most surfaces, and can be done immediately even if the surface is still hot.
Easy to handle, its smooth crepe backing material allows it to hug the shape and absorb the contours of the surface. It is therefore very conformable and can tear easily. Its thickness gives it a long-term use.

It is important to highlight that it must be used indoors and that it will be more difficult to remove if exposed to sunlight for a long period of time.
