Bostik Pliogrip 5761B is a two-part structural epoxy adhesive developed for structural auto body repair. 

Thatcham approved, it bonds panels to the vehicle on its own or alongside rivets and spot welds, and contributes to the rigidity of the body structure.

Pliogrip 5761B is a two-part epoxy adhesive with a 2:1 mix ratio, black, curing at room temperature. Its key properties:

• Tensile strength of 30 MPa for a genuinely structural bond

• Crash-toughened against impact and vibration

• Service temperature from −40 to +100 °C

• Withstands automotive paint processes: e-coat, powder primer and paint bake ovens up to 200 °C for short cycles

• Non-sag with a glass bead controlled bond line of 0.25 mm

As with any structural adhesive, careful surface preparation governs bond performance.

      What are the applications of Bostik Pliogrip 5761B?

Bonding metal panels on vehicles

The 5761B bonds galvanized steel, cold-rolled steel and aluminum panels with no adhesion promoter. Its non-sag thixotropic body allows work on vertical surfaces, and its glass bead controlled bond line of 0.25 mm keeps a consistent adhesive thickness along the full length of the joint.

Bonding SMC RTM and carbon fiber composites

On SMC, RTM, CFRP and ABS, it delivers high specific adhesion without primers. Crash-toughened, the bond line absorbs vibration and impact without brittle failure, which suits structural panels as well as composite trim parts.

Structural assembly in low volume production

Its 60-minute open time leaves room to align and position several panels before cure, with handling strength after 4 hours at 23 °C, accelerated at 120 °C. That latitude makes it usable in low volume production runs and not only in one-off repair work.

      How is Bostik Pliogrip 5761B applied?

The 5761B is supplied in a side-by-side cartridge and applied with a manual or pneumatic dispensing gun fitted with a static mixing nozzle, which handles the 2:1 metering, mixing and extrusion in a single pass. 

Prepare clean, dry and degreased surfaces, apply the adhesive, close the joint before the end of the 60-minute open time, then allow to cure: handling strength at 4 hours, full cure within 24 hours at 23 °C, accelerated in an oven.
